Job Description

The Prospect Development Analyst or Senior Prospect Development Analyst reports to the Associate Director, Prospect Development and is responsible for the identification and initial assessment of new prospects capable of contributing significant financial support to Boston College, as well as maintaining the prospect database and providing ongoing analysis of the prospect pipeline. The Analyst monitors a variety of sources, including relevant websites, government and financial documents and screening data, and acts on leads from development officers to identify and qualify new prospective donors. The Analyst produces clear, concise reports on key prospects as requested and assists with portfolio hygiene. As determined by the Director of Prospect Development, the Analyst will be assigned to work closely with specific development officers, providing research on their prospects and proactively identifying and analyzing prospects and their interests in support of University goals. They will assist in developing and providing user training for gift officers and staff, and they will serve as a resource for end-users on prospect management functions and procedures.

The Senior Prospect Development Analyst will provide services as described above for the Prospect Development Analyst, but will also take on additional relationship management responsibilities, including building and maintaining fundraiser portfolios, defining and implementing methods to evaluate and drive portfolio productivity, monitoring key measures of fundraiser productivity, and helping ensure the effective and timely capture of relationship management data including actions, discovery information, and wealth indicators. The Senior Analyst will focus on strong relationship building and data-informed decision making.

Prospect Development Analyst: $52,400-$65,500
Senior Prospect Development
Analyst: $57,850-$72,300


This position requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year for the Prospect Development Analyst and a minimum of three years for the Senior Prospect Development Analyst of prospect research/prospect management or other directly-related research experience such as financial or legal research. Also required are well-developed writing skills; standard business computing skills including a working knowledge of MS Office; proficiency in gathering information from websites, online services and databases; and an ability to interpret, analyze, and summarize biographical and financial data. The ability to work as a part of a cohesive team is also a key prerequisite. This position involves work with highly confidential information and complete discretion is required.
