Description of Work Unit

The Division of University Marketing and Communications (MarComm) oversees Marketing, Brand Management, News and Media Relations, and University Web Management. The division provides central marketing, media and community relations, design, photography, Web, and digital social media to build a strong, compelling and effective brand position for the entire university and its units.

Position Summary

The IT Manager reports to the Chief of Staff and Operations and oversees infrastructure Information Technology for the Division of Marketing and Communications. This includes personal computer deployments, updates, troubleshooting and help requests; managing the division's desk and mobile phones; Microsoft Office 365 objects and access; division servers; coordinating network connectivity with central IT and managing IP space; access control to various division information systems; hardware and software purchases and other similar duties.

This position works independently on projects and tasks using judgement on how best to prioritize and accomplish the work by considering feedback and an understanding of MarComm's mission and goals. This position is responsible for troubleshooting IT problems (all tiers) and making decisions regarding the best way to resolve those problems. Determines appropriate configurations for optimal performance of client hardware and software. Determines appropriate software and hardware.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, computer deployments and upgrades both macOS and Windows 10
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in technical support, working with end-users
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting Microsoft Office 365 or Exchange and ecosystem (OneDrive, Teams, etc.)
  • Demonstrated understanding of Windows and Active Directory
  • Demonstrated understanding of information technology security and best practices
  • Experience managing cloud services (e.g. Google Workspace including Drive, O365 online, etc.) in a hybrid environment
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer/technology-related field
  • Experience working in higher education with strong preference for experience in a technology role at Colorado State University
  • Experience managing information technology infrastructure
  • Experience managing an information technology team (student and/or full-time employees)
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM, SCVMM
  • Experience developing information technology plans and strategies, documenting procedures
  • Experience with large data storage and backup
  • Experience working with technology vendors and system implementations
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and maintain strong interpersonal and customer service skills in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment

Duty/Responsibility
  • Ensure a high quality IT infrastructure for the MarComm division (desktops, laptops, desk phones, mobile phones, tablets, storage devices, file servers, cloud storage) including purchases, configuration, deployments, updates/patches, upgrades, replacements, etc.
  • Manage MarComm's equipment refresh budget and hardware and software purchases
  • Install and upgrade operating systems (macOS and Windows) and other desktop software
  • Manage MarComm VoIP desk phones and network access
  • Manage MarComm mobile phones (purchases, upgrades, plan changes, etc.)
  • Maintain IT equipment inventory and other records (IP address usage, network jacks

Duty/Responsibility
  • Manage access control / permissions for MarComm staff to servers, files, printers, O365 object, cloud storage, local information systems
  • Act as an Office 365 / Exchange Resource Coordinator (managing email distribution lists, shared mailboxes, delegated calendar access, rooms, equipment, Microsoft Teams and membership, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Central IT (e.g. licensing, virtual servers, telecom requests)
  • Google Drive administration, access control
  • Help develop and document IT procedures
  • Ensure adherence to University IT policies and guidelines
  • Serve as a member of CSU's ITEC Advisory Committee (IAC)
  • Interface with local information system vendors on implementation, enhancements, upgrades, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Duty/Responsibility
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting and problem resolution (all tiers) to MarComm staff
  • Provide technology aspects of new employee onboarding
  • Evaluate requests against MarComm goals and priorities
  • Assist in project execution and implementation by gathering requirements, developing project plan, configuring, testing, and evaluating
  • Provide consultation for specialized hardware and software purchases and implementations
  • Participate on campus committees, councils, user groups or other programming to increase campus level knowledge and awareness.
  • Engage in professional development that incorporates developmental goals, career paths, and competency areas
  • Other duties as assigned
