The Park University Department of Social Work is seeking to fill a tenure-track position for an Assistant or Associate Professor whose primary responsibilities will be within the MSW program. Candidates with online teaching and learning experience are preferred, as the program faculty intend to develop fully online counterparts of the existing face-to-face courses. This position may assist in overseeing the development process, including collaboration with course designers, and coordination with the MSW Program Director and Department Chair. This position is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. This position requires teaching, advising, service, and scholarship.

The Social Work Department consists of a BSW program established in 2003 and an MSW program established in 2014. Both programs are accredited by CSWE through 2027. The Department of Social Work confers BSW and MSW degrees and is housed in the College of Education and Health Professions (CEHP).

Position Accountabilities:
  • Teach successfully across all levels of the curriculum
  • Maintain a student focused teaching philosophy that is grounded in student success
  • Collaborate across disciplines
  • Collaborate with community partners
  • Produce evidence of service to the Department, University, & Community
  • Assist with marketing or recruitment events
  • Maintain and provide evidence of an active research and scholarship agenda
  • Coordinate and assist with online course development
  • Support online operations in conjunction with MSW Program Director and Chair
Student Support
  • The candidate collaborates with the Social Work Department, Chair, Dean and other University personnel regarding graduate marketing and recruitment activities.
  • The candidate will have responsibilities for both academic and professional advising
  • The candidate supports University efforts to promote student retention, at the direction of their Dean.
Faculty Responsibilities:
  • Graduate faculty are expected to teach a minimum of three graduate-level courses per semester and may be expected to serve as field liaison when teaching a field education experience (per Collective Bargaining Agreement).
  • Pursuit of scholarship and research activities as described in the published Department Standards.
  • University service involvement, including service to the department, the larger university and the community.
  • Ongoing professional development and other academic requirements as a full-time faculty member.
  • Release time for administrative duties with online development may be possible.
Position Requirements:
  • An MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program (a PhD or DSW, preferably in social work, is preferred).
  • Experience with online social work education including Learning Management Systems (e.g. Canvas, Blackboard, and/or Rise).
  • Experience with course and curriculum development.
  • A minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience and preferably two years teaching experience at a CSWE-accredited University.
  • Experience with syllabus construction or pedagogy is preferred
  • Experience with CSWE accreditation processes is preferred.
  • A commitment to excellence, diversity, educational equity, student success and social justice applied to teaching.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with experience using learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle
