Farmingdale State College invites applications for a faculty position in Business Law at the Lecturer level. Excellent communications and collaboration skills are required. Alongside introductory survey courses in Business Law, candidates should be able to teach in at least two or more of the following areas Employment Law, Intellectual Property Law (Copyright and Patent Law), Environmental Law, and International Law.

Lecturers are responsible for teaching 15 contact hours per semester and service to the department and the School which would include activities such as advising students and serving on departmental committees. Business Lecturers are also responsible for maintaining their professional qualifications ("Instructional Practitioner" as defined within the Business department's accreditation faculty qualifications documents). The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching and be expected to teach in a variety of modalities (traditional face-to-face, online, hybrid).

Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited institution and at least one year of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Candidates will be expected to maintain qualifications as an Instructional Practitioner (or higher, e.g. SP, PA, or SA) as per the Business Management department's accreditation faculty qualifications guidelines).

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College teaching experience in a business school setting.
  • Expertise and ability to teach in at least two or more of the following areas: Intellectual Property Law, Real Estate Law, Employment Law, Environmental Law, International Law, and Regulatory/Legal Environment for the Recreational and the Medical Marijuana Industry.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, 10 month, non-tenure track faculty position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Monday, September 13, 2021 and ending Friday, September 24, 2021, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Tuesday, October 12, 2021
  • SALARY: $65,000/year, may increase commensurate with experience
  • ANTICIPATED START DATE: September 1, 2022
