Director of Marketing & Fan Experience

Augustana University invites applications for the position of full-time Director of Marketing and Fan Experience. The Director of Marketing & Fan Experience is responsible for developing and implementing a marketing and promotions plan to increase ticket sales, game attendance, and enhance the fan experience for Augustana Athletics. The Director will play a key role in the execution of Viking Bold: The Journey to 2030, the university’s comprehensive strategic plan. Specifically related to the athletics goal within the plan: to provide student-athletes the opportunity to compete at a higher level, elevate the profile of the university, and inspire Sioux Falls to enthusiastically embrace Augustana University as the hometown team as we serve the community and integrate our mission with its needs.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement marketing and promotions plans to increase ticket sales, game attendance and fan experience
  • Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Partnerships with the planning, coordination and implementation of all game day activities and promotions including but not limited to:
    • Public address scripts and timelines
    • In-game promotions and giveaways
    • In-game presentations sponsored by the University and/or the Athletics Department
    • Marching Band performances
    • Spirit – Cheerleaders, Dance Team, and Mascot
    • All other game day related activities
  • Assist with fulfillment of sponsorship agreements
  • Assist with strategic marketing plan to launch Division I Men’s Ice Hockey program
  • Serve as the primary point of contact in athletics for the Viking Marching Band
  • Works with Marketing & Fan Experience Graduate Assistant with the planning and execution of the Viking Kid’s Club
  • Work with student-based clubs and community groups in order to increase attendance at athletic events
  • Serve as the supervisor of Marketing & Fan Experience Graduate Assistant and student interns
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Relationship based sales experience, preferably in college or professional sports setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with customer service
  • Experience with fundraising / sales
  • Experience working with college hockey
