Position Summary

Under general direction, provides administrative support to research faculty and other staff within the department. This role may also carry out research activities, under the supervision of faculty, as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides technical and administrative support for the proper functioning of laboratory facilities and assists with lab maintenance duties.
  • Responsible for procurement activities related to assigned faculty members or others within their respective labs (via shopping carts, P-card); maintains those records/files.
  • Maintains spreadsheets for each grant or fund within assigned faculty's labs; reviews and reconciles accounts and financial transactions. Investigates and corrects discrepancies. Escalates issues as needed.
  • Working with Research Accounting, assists with closing out grant year(s).
  • Assists with travel arrangements when needed.
  • Provides general administrative support to departmental leadership, including calendar management.
  • If applicable, carries out research activities and conducts some experiments under the supervision of faculty members.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.
Education
  • High School Diploma
Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a science field preferred.
  • Approximately 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a research laboratory setting and research related administrative experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
