The Postdoctoral Researcher will assist in cultivated meat development in the FutureFoods Lab at the Virginia Tech - Virginia Seafood AREC. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work collaboratively with other team researchers and will supervise students as well. The position will be located in Hampton, Virginia, with programmatic linkages in the Department of Food Science and Technology (FST) at Virginia Tech, Industry, and The Good Food Institute.
A Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Cell biology, Molecular Biology, Biological Systems Engineering, or a closely related field, with PhD awarded no more than 4 years ago. Research experience in human and/or animal cell culture, molecular and microscopy techniques, and strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to develop manuscripts, and assist in preparation of grant proposals and presentations.
Must already be able to work legally in the US (project timeline mandates immediate start).
Experience working on a multi-disciplinary research projects with a proven track record of publications, self-motivated, and a team player. Research experience in animal cell culture optimization, stem-cell differentiation, and machine learning and programming are highly desirable.
