Position Announcement

Reporting under Student Affairs, the Women's Resource Center Coordinator serves to facilitate access to resources, mentoring, and scholarships available to women across the disciplines at the University, with the overall mission to help women achieve their academic and professional goals. The Center Coordinator organizes campus events with professional resource speakers and work with community partners to offer additional support, as well as work collaboratively with other University departments to coordinate outreach, educational and training programs, and services that contribute to the university's strategic goal of promoting success for underserved and underrepresented female students by enhancing support for inclusion and equity.

As a result of COVID-19, the university has experienced a significant increase in the number of female students on campus and wishes to continue assisting this important cohort towards graduation and future success through a full-time Center Coordinator. This position is fully-funded thru April 2023; contingent upon funding thereafter. Additional information about the center and its resources can be found online at https://wrc.dixie.edu/.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate student programming initiatives that connect female students to the resources available on campus, including educational resource materials.
  • Serve as a club advisor for applicable female student organizations.
  • Foster student learning and development by serving as a role model, mentor, student advocate, and educator.
  • Facilitate workshops, trainings and dialogues for departments and organizations across campus on female and social justice topics, including Sexual Assault Awareness/Prevention trainings. Such trainings are designed and collaborated with Senior Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Multicultural Inclusion Center, and other campus partners.
  • Fulfill annual objectives for the Women's Resource Center, based on best practices in alignment with university and Campus Diversity policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of newsletters, brochures, web pages, and other marketing materials that can be used to promote inclusion.
  • Represent the Center to the public and work to increase awareness of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least one (1) year experience coordinating student-related activities and programs and/or advising students groups required.
  • Knowledge of issues of concern related to gender inequities and the intersection with other identities.
  • Demonstrated ability and strong interpersonal skills to work in a multicultural, social justice-oriented office with individuals and groups with a wide array of backgrounds, identities, life experiences, and communication styles required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, teach and build relationships with individuals and groups unfamiliar with gender equity and social justice issues.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule (e.g. evening and weekend hours) depending on activity and event schedule.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $41,000 - $44,000, depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of November 1, 2021.
