Position Highlights

Research, Innovation & Impact's (RII) Core Facilities' Machinating and Welding Facility (MWC) at the University of Arizona is in search of a Senior Machinist. The incumbent will perform tasks ranging from customer service to the set up and operation of metal fabricating machines. MWC supports the research community by providing prototype machining, designing, fabrication, welding, consultation, departmental instructional support, and community outreach programs. MWC is dedicated to providing expertise in high-end research instrument fabrication, continuous improvement of innovative processes, and the delivery of products of superior quality.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Machining of customer designed parts
  • Programing of the same using Mastercam 2020. designing and building customer/dept. requirements
  • Operating And setting up of manual and CNC mills, lathes, water jet, saws, sheet metal equipment, shear, finger brakes press tool, heat treating of specific metals
  • Quoting and issuing of quotes for customers
  • Manufacture of customer required parts
  • Additional duties may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • Up to 1 year of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Six years machinist experience; OR, Completion of a four year machinist training program and 1 year experience; OR,
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education
