Job Description

The Program Support Technician for Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets (VTCC) ensures the smooth and efficient administrative operation of the Recruiting Office. Typical tasks include: serving as the primary point of contact for any visitors as well as the primary contact for phone calls, manage all filing and mailings, provide administrative support for the Corps scholarship program, generate letters for periodic mailings, provide all logistical support for the Corps' campus tours, college fairs, admissions, orientation events, managing TimeClock entries for summer student hourly employees, and any other administrative support duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, professional office practices and procedures
  • Strong keyboarding skills focusing on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Previous experience with receptionist activities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with current office computer software such as electronic mail, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Previous experience with data entry 
  • Demonstrated customer service experience in a high volume professional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with database management, or willingness to learn
  • Previous experience with Banner, MicroStrategy, Slate, or similar programs
  • Previous experience providing support services in a military or academic setting 
  • Bilingual in Spanish
