The Position Coach must have lacrosse expertise and exhibit excellence in position specific coaching and instruction in practice and contests. The Coach serves as a positive example of a leader and role model-assistance and awareness of the academic success of student athletes is a priority for all coaches.
This individual will work, cooperate and communicate with the athletic department and college staff concerning all areas of program operations, including organization, equipment, and scheduling of practices; fulfilling additional requirements such as attending practices and competitions as determined by the Head Coach; adhering to NJCAA coaching principals as described annually in the NJCAA handbook; following Harford Community College, conference, and NJCAA policies and procedures while supporting the Mission of the College; and perform other duties as assigned.
The position-specific coach is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing and conducting practices; and performing other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
A high school diploma or GED and college credits with a minimum of 30 hours or more are required; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Applicants with multiple years of professional playing/coaching experience will be accepted in lieu of education.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience, to include a combination of active game situation coaching at the high school, club/select, or collegiate level and professional playing/coaching experience.
Expertise in lacrosse and a thorough understanding of position coaching.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Preference will be given to candidates familiar with NJCAA and Maryland JUCO guidelines and policies.
