Summary
The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) provides a direct linkage between Tulane University's Information Technology Department and University Business Partners, proactively serving as a trusted advisor, key point of contact, and advocate on their behalf to ensure IT services meet their strategic priorities and everyday business needs. Under the direction of the AVP for BRM, the BRM III leads initiatives that result in new and better ways of doing business. The BRM III is a value creator and innovator that works with business partners to define and prioritize technology initiatives that will bring the most benefit to the university, school, or department.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Diplomacy and relationship building skills. Ability to problem-solve, mediate, and negotiate.
  • Empathetic with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work cooperatively/effectively with others of diverse personalities, education and cultural backgrounds. Able to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflict.
  • Able to offer creative, innovative, and strategic solutions to challenges.
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders to influence the status quo.
  • Demonstrated understanding of one or more business areas in the organization as well as demonstrated knowledge of core business processes and operations.
  • Experience facilitating change management involving business processes and organizational change.
  • Experience conducting business analysis and soliciting, understanding, and verifying business requirements.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed; able to effectively prioritize and execute while under pressure
  • Proven ability to communicate and explain complex issues in clear, concise, persuasive language both verbally and inwriting. Effective public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Highly adaptable and flexible; able to adjust quickly to new situations and changing priorities.
  • Understand and able to communicate core concepts and lifecycle of IT lines of service (e.g. hardware, software, security, project management).
  • Understand and able to communicate technology fundamentals to business teams.
  • Able to communicate up and down the management chain providing the appropriate message to the audience.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
  • Highly proficient computer skills.
Required Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience

OR

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent and thirteen years of relevant experience

AND

  • Demonstrated experience partnering with business stakeholders in multiple organizations.
  • BRMP certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
  • Basic understanding of ITSM/ITIL
  • Prior experience in Higher Education
  • CBRM certification
