Job DescriptionThe Director for Procurement manages the College's procurement process; serves as the primary point of contact for the College and contracting agencies on all contractual matters, including utility cost contracts; administers policies and procedures governing the procurement of all materials, equipment, construction, supplies and services; and ensures that policies and procedures are effective and in accordance with laws and regulations, College bylaws, and Board of Trustees policies.
The Director leads the Procurement Services unit to provide timely, consistent, and high quality contract service support to the College; defines and delivers upon expectations for correspondence, information and reports; and supervises one full-time Procurement Assistant.
This is an exempt, administrator position.
Required EducationA bachelor's degree in Business, English, Accounting, or a related field is required.
Required ExperienceA minimum of five years of increasingly responsible professional contract/procurement experience; work experience in a higher education environment; and working knowledge of State of Maryland fiscal rules are required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesThe Director for Procurement must have strong organizational and communication skills, a strong understanding of most standard contract language, excellent customer service skills, the ability to analyze complex systems and make recommendations, and possess knowledge of standard business practices and policies including budget, planning, and standard accounting principles.
Preferred QualificationsUnderstanding of Maryland procurement law specific to higher education.
Hours per Week: 40 - 100%
General Weekly Work ScheduleGenerally 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; however, additional hours may be assigned as needed by directing supervisor.
