The Sports Equipment unit supports the day-to-day operations of 37 varsity sports, physical education, wellness, and faculty/staff recreation. The unit is responsible for the purchase, maintenance, and repair of equipment, the issuing of team gear and recreational equipment, and the laundering of uniforms and workout apparel. The Sports Equipment unit works to support the Department's philosophy of a sound mind and sound body.

The Assistant Equipment Manager (Material Handler SO-07) for Schoellkopf Hall and Teagle Hall coordinates the equipment needs for assigned athletic teams, including: issues pin bags, uniforms, protective equipment, sport equipment; repair and recondition equipment; fit protective equipment, and assists in laundry operation for the Athletics and Physical Education department. This position works with specific sports teams to issue, fit, maintain and repair protective equipment, which includes travelling with the Sprint Football team and working home games. This role also includes supervision of student workers on the weekends.

Please note: The normal schedule for this position is Thursday - Monday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM weekdays and 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM weekends. Hours and schedule subject to change depending on sport season and vacation coverage. There is no visa sponsorship available for this position.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Athletic Equipment Managers Association Certification, or ability to be certified within two years of start date
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift, move and carry (pushing and pulling)
  • Knowledge of a large variety of athletic equipment and football experience is preferred
  • Proficient in basic computer use a must; knowledge and use of Word, Excel and File Maker Pro preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
