Job Summary
 Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Medical Education (HMS PGME) is a provider of continuing education for physicians through the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), and nurses, through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), with the ongoing pursuit of Joint Accreditation (JA), which promotes interprofessional continuing education (IPCE). The Program Manager, Accreditation and Educational Development is responsible for day-to-day compliance of affiliated-hospital directed courses certified for credit through HMS PGME, creating long- and short- term accreditation plans, including setting targets for accreditation milestones, adhering to deadlines and allocating resources as needed. This position works closely with the Associate Director, Educational Development and Accreditation and Director, Accredited Programs to ensure ongoing compliance with Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, American Nurses Credentialing Center, and other accreditation requirements, as applicable. 

Job-Specific Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities
  • Provides day-to-day oversight of live, online/enduring, and regularly scheduled series (RSS) activities to ensure that proposed educational activities are appropriate for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM (and Nursing CEU, where applicable) and comply with relevant CE standards, regulations and criteria.
  • Works closely with Faculty Director and Lead Nurse Planner to ensure that proposed educational activities are appropriate for MOC/ANCC credit and follow CE standards/regulations/criteria.
  • Oversees annual and term accreditation reporting processes for all accrediting bodies and has final responsibility for ensuring data accuracy and timely submittals to appropriate accrediting bodies. 
  • Reviews all accredited activities and develops strategy to demonstrate compliance with all ACCME/ANCC policies and with other accrediting bodies requirements as applicable. 
  • Assists in the strategy to apply, meet JA accreditation criteria, and ensure an integrated planning process that includes multiple heath care professionals within 25% or our accredited activities. 
  • Identifying and managing potential risks and liabilities for multiple accreditation projects.
  • Serves as staff liaison to the Committee Proposal Review (CPR) and Advisory Committee on Continuing Professional Development. 
  • Performs quality control checks
  • Reviews disclosure information and identifies potential COI for all individuals in control of education content. Devises and implements a mechanism for COI resolution. 
  • Develops and reviews Disclosure Statements or other documentation to communicate disclosure information to the learners prior to the CME activity for compliance with CME standards and regulations. 
  • Researches, develops, and provides guidance regarding updates to accreditation policies and procedures to ensure organization-wide compliance with national and state continuing education/professional development standards and regulations for physicians and other health professionals. 
Staff Oversight:
  • Works collaboratively with and delegates work to office support staff and temporary help, as needed.
  • Serves as point of contact for all accredited programs team members to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
  • Motivating people involved in accredited program projects to complete tasks, or make adjustments to processes to ensure continued compliance with accreditation criteria. 
  • Design accredited training programs for onboarding of new staff or skill enhancement plans for current staff.
  • Review and manage process standards for live, online/enduring, and RSS courses and ensure consistency among CME/CE programs. 
  • Communicate with leadership to keep accredited projects aligned with department goals. 
  • Assess and update team process, building reports as needed for office leadership.

Basic Qualifications
* A Bachelors' degree or equivalent and 5 or more years of related experience are required.

Additional Qualifications and Skills
* ACCME and ANCC accreditation or reaccreditation experience are preferred.
* Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, communication, project management, prioritization, problem solving and time management skills are important. 
* A professional, service-oriented approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment to complete disparate assignments are essential.
