Adjunct Part-time Position in Intermediate Coptic
School: Harvard Divinity School
Position DescriptionHarvard Divinity School seeks to appoint an adjunct instructor/lecturer in Intermediate Coptic to teach one course during the fall semester 2021. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students. The course covers Sahidic Coptic grammar and syntax, introduces Coptic dialects, enables facility in working with B. Layton A Coptic Grammar, and includes selected readings from second to fifth century Coptic texts. The course must be open and accessible to the Divinity School's diverse and multi-religious student body. The appointment title will depend on the finalist's qualifications.
Basic QualificationsApplicants should demonstrate the following qualifications: (1) completed advanced degree (PhD or ABD candidates preferred), (2) prior experience teaching at the graduate level, and (3) sensibility to a multi-religious, diverse student body. Publications in the field are desirable, though not required. Harvard Divinity School does not provide visa sponsorship for adjunct teaching positions. Special InstructionsThe primary work location for this position is Cambridge, Massachusetts, and all employees of Harvard University are expected to reside in the New England area during their employment with HDS. Unless we will receive different guidance from the CDC and the State of Massachusetts, all instruction will be held in person (and/or in a hybrid fashion to enable all students to participate in classes) during the 2021-22 academic year.
