Director of Marketing & Communications

The Director of Marketing & Communications is a strategic leader who manages marketing and communication strategies for Ringling College of Art and Design to promote wider recognition and awareness of Ringling College to internal and external audiences, while reinforcing and promoting the College’s strategic plan and the Institution’s identity/brand. Audiences include prospective and current students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, and the general public. 

This position is central to the College’s strategic growth priorities and is part of the Enrollment Management and Marketing Division which includes Admissions, Financial Aid, the Design Center, and Marketing & Communications. This position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing, working closely to provide strategic, creative, and innovative leadership for the college's digital marketing, communications, public relations, online and social media engagement, website strategy and development, and advertising.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and manages the Marketing & Communications team of creatives.
  • Plans and executes all web, SEO/SEM, social media, and digital advertising campaigns.
  • Oversees digital marketing strategy to increase recruitment prospects and web traffic.
  • Leads public and media relations for the College.
  • In coordination with the Director of the Design Center and the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing, thinks strategically about the brand’s functional and emotional benefits, especially in relation to recruiting prospective students.
  • Along with Senior Leadership, manages crisis communications.
  • Oversees the video production team for internal and external audiences.
  • Manages internal communications processes across a variety of communications media
  • Along with the Digital Designer for Communications, closely collaborates with the Design Center for print and digital assets.
  • Manages the Marketing & Communications budget and leverages available resources to achieve College’s strategic goals.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of the College’s communications standards and guidelines, ensuring message accuracy, quality, and consistency. 
  • Manages timely production schedule for marketing materials.
  • Produces metric-based reports demonstrating marketing results.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong quantitative reasoning with the ability to measure, justify, and refine branding efforts based on data.
  • Ability to work as a team member at all levels of the college.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and problem-solve.
  • Demonstrated expertise in related work field; ability to implement a communications and marketing strategy within a large organization to both external and internal audiences.
  • Understanding of digital marketing tools and technology.
  • Stays current with latest digital media trends to ensure relevant communication experiences with prospective and current art and design students.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects.
  • Entrepreneurial in vision and driven to succeed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Five years related work experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Higher Education or non-profit experience
