Position HighlightsResearch, Innovation & Impact's Information Technology team at the University of Arizona is in search of a KMap Full Stack Application Developer. Institutional Knowledge Map (KMAP) collects, connects, analyzes, and visualizes the institutional knowledge landscape. The KMAP is an advanced data science system that uses many pieces of un/structured data such as grants, abstracts, publications, patents, news, achievements, courses to build the knowledge graph then provide an interactive geographic map alike interface to explore and search information.
The successful candidate for this position will design, develop and modify the KMAP system to enhance KMAP's capabilities. Ideal candidates should have knowledge about handling unstructured data and building complex web interface with visualization. The ideal candidates should have practical experience in designing and developing interactive web applications using modern web application frameworks such as NodeJS, native react, etc.
The Institutional Knowledge Map (KMAP https://kmap.arizona.edu/) is a software platform for providing succinct and interpretable views of enterprise-wide expertise and knowledge portfolios for any organization. The platform utilizes advanced machine learning (ML) techniques for synthesizing structured and unstructured data such as publications, proposals, bio-sketches, social media and web presence for individuals in an organization, to construct a multi-dimensional institutional collaboration and knowledge graph. The resultant knowledge graph is readily interpretable and lends itself for data exploration with its advanced web-based visualization techniques that transform the graph relationships into geographical constructs (maps), highlighting clusters of novel expertise and collaborative activities that are hard to discover.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop interactive and responsive user interface
- Create, maintain and improve the data processing pipeline
- Build KMap API with documentation
- Improve KMap search engine
- Coordinate with project stakeholders, design, and data team
- Additional duties may be assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Web application development skills
- Data processing skill
- Knowledge on data processing techniques and tools
- Web Programming Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Experience with mapbox or geographic information system (GIS) based web application
- Experience with graph/network data analysis and visualization
- Experience with text processing and handling unstructured data
- Experience with source code management system such as git
- Experience in data science task with python is a plus
- Experience with interactive web application design and development
- Experience working with complex data in a NoSQL based environment
- Experience with MongoDB database
- Experience accessing and creating Application Programming Interface (API)
