Project Assistant: Colorado Center for Rural Education
The University of Northern Colorado invites applications for a Project Assistant to provide administrative support for the operations of the Colorado Center for Rural Education. The Center operations are focused on the development of partnerships with institutions of higher education (IHEs), alternative educator licensure providers (AELPs), the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE), the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), and rural school districts throughout Colorado with the aim of meeting the Colorado Center for Rural Education's mission of increasing recruitment and retention of effective educators in rural schools. The position provides administrative support to the Colorado Center for Rural Education leadership team including the Center's Directors and Rural Education Coordinator. The Project Assistant is a .50 FTE grant funded position. The position may be continued based on performance and available funding.
The Project Assistant will be responsible for communicating with the various IHEs, AELPs, and rural school districts, scheduling events designed to increase the pipeline of prospective rural educators, communicating the ongoing activities of the Center by maintaining up-to-date webpages, publishing the Center sponsored newsletter Rural Centered, maintaining a system for processing applications for various stipend programs, and collecting and reporting budget and program outcome data related to grant objectives.
We seek an individual who possesses excellent administrative support skills and is able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders in education and related fields. In addition, we seek an individual who is able to effectively meet deadlines for multiple tasks with minimal supervision, while working collegially with the grant project director/rural education coordinator, state agencies and organizations focused on rural education, higher education faculty and administrators, and members of the Center's Advisory Group. The ideal candidate will be an advocate for rural education and successfully communicate with a variety of stakeholders from the rural education communities in Colorado.
- Earned Associate's degree in business systems or related field
- Experience in providing administrative support to grant supported projects and activities
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to effectively work independently with minimal supervision
- Proven expertise in project implementation, including flexibility, multi-task organization/completion, budget monitoring, communication and relationship skills
- Comfort and experience using technology, including Microsoft Office, and various video conferencing software
- Experience working in support of rural schools
- Expertise in developing webpages and publishing software programs

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is $18,252. Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
