Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Director of Institutional Research and Assessment serves as the primary contact for accreditation and compliance reporting work at the College. The director plans, manages, and implements a comprehensive research and assessment program that supports strategy development and decision-making at all levels. The director is responsible for all internal and external reporting, including the collection, analysis, interpretation, and submission of relevant data to appropriate authorities.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership of the College’s institutional research and assessment area to promote strategic goals and institutional effectiveness.
  • Facilitates the completion of external data and survey requests and the preparation of specialized reports in compliance with state, federal, or other regulatory agencies such as SACSCOC, NCES/IPEDS, and others.
  • Use applied research methods including surveys, mixed methods, and qualitative approaches to collect and analyze data.
  • Collaborate with academic schools, departments, and programs to ensure support for their assessment needs.
  • Provide guidance to committees tasked with assessment.
  • Assist departments in designing, conducting, and reporting on annual, 5-year, and 10-year assessment plans.
  • Maintain a balanced institutional research budget annually.
  • Adherence to all FERPA requirements to include maintenance of all department documents, discussions and records.
  • Oversee reporting to Internal and external constituencies including the federal and state governments and professional organizations.
  • Ensure effectiveness and efficiency of computer applications to secure receipt and transfer of financial aid information electronically.
  • Develop and administer departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Represent PC at state, regional, and national conference and policy meetings.
  • Participate in strategic planning activities as requested by the president and vice presidents.
  • Serve as SACSCOC liaison and point-person for accreditation reports and visits. Facilitate accreditation-related activities.
  • Chair and serve on committees ex officio as requested by the president or provost.
  • Serve on the Institutional Review Board and provide expertise to the committee.
  • Develop and maintain Institutional Research and Assessment webpage.
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of the nature and aims of a selective liberal arts college.
  • Knowledge of or experience with the accreditation process and its expectations.
  • Demonstrated experience and prudence handling confidential information required.
  • Expertise with compliance in Federal reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of Banner or similar information system.
  • At least five years of related work experience in assessment, program evaluation, statistical analysis, research design, and quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues with clarity. Ability to share research, best practices, and professional development knowledge with a variety of audiences.
  • An understanding of best practices in educational assessment.
  • Experience working with college-level faculty and staff preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in meeting deadlines.
  • Proven project-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse colleagues.
  • Commitment to the mission of the institution.
Education and other:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required from a regionally accredited institution in a discipline with intensive use of statistical analysis; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience with SACSCOC accreditation preferred.
  • Expertise in Tableau and Qualtrics appreciated.
