The Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) is a membership organization that supports and promotes the teaching of computer science, providing opportunities for K–12 teachers and their students to better understand computer science and to more successfully prepare themselves to teach and learn.

CSTA is looking for a highly organized, detailed orientated Grant Research Administrator to manage the life cycle of grant and sponsored project administration. The Grant Research Administrator will work closely in providing grant support and compliance with the Director of Operations, PI on sponsored projects and Grant Project Managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages Pre-award Activities:
    • Prepares administrative and business documents for grant and contract proposals; assists preparing grant proposals, renewals and resubmissions of applications.
    • Reviews subaward and subcontract agreements and other agreements, such as non-disclosure for all grants and contracts. Prepares consulting agreements for any subaward agreements. Advises PI of any concerns.
    • Reviews solicitations and sponsor guidelines to advise proposal teams on compliance requirements
  • Manages Post-Award Activities:
    • Works with the Director of Operations to monitor projects under spending and overspending. Reviews expenditures. Ensures expenditures are allowable. Provides PI and/or grant project managers with monthly financial reports. Assist with draw-down and invoicing of grant funds.
    • Assists in single audits, providing necessary records to auditors.
    • Assists PI in formal re-budgeting and submission for approval.
    • Provides data needed for the preparation of interim and final financial reports, along with any other progress reports.
    • Participates in any grant close-out activities.
    • Builds relationships between CSTA, grants sponsors and grants partners over the life of a project.
  • Grant Compliance and Procedures:
    • Researches and stays up to date with current grant and federal guidelines. Institutions such as, but not limited to, the National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Education
    • Reviews current organization grant policies and procedures. Makes recommendations and updates as necessary for federal and audit compliance, and with any funding agency regulations.
    • Manages effort reporting, and keeps track of records.
    • Advises management and colleagues of grant administration policies and procedures, and other related topics.
    • Manages CSTA’s indirect rate on federal grants. Prepares documentation and applies for rate adjustments as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with federal grant administration, including pre and post award administration.
  • experience
  • Knowledge of federal regulations, and agency policies and procedures that govern grant awardees, OMB Uniform Guidance, and general accounting standards and principles
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to coordinate and be accountable for multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a group
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially on virtual interfaces
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite
  • Commitment to engaging in CSTA's efforts towards embracing diversity, being purposefully inclusive, and addressing anti-racism in CS education
  • Experience in advising senior staff on risk and compliance obligations
  • Budget development/review and knowledge of indirect rate structures
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% time and occasionally work outside normal business hours. Travel costs are covered by CSTA.
