Summary

The Program Manager, School of Medicine is a full-time professional administrative position providing higher level administrative support, implementation, and management of the program initiatives for the Associate Vice President of Advancement/Executive Director of Development. This position works closely with the Associate Vice President of Advancement/Executive Director of Development to support the Board of Governors, serving as liaison to the board coordinating programming, record keeping, and reporting. This position facilitates the donor acknowledgement process for the School of Medicine, providing a higher level of stewardship support, developing and implementing new opportunities for gift officers to connect with and engage donors. In addition, the position assists with special projects as directed by the Associate Vice President of Advancement/Executive Director of Development. The position works closely with other departments within the Office of Development including Gift Planning, Stewardship, Corporate & Foundation Relations, and Alumni Development Information Services as well as Alumni Relations, Communications and other university relations departments throughout the university.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple demands and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with potential donors at all levels.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with high level prospects, donors, and volunteers.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and follow-up.
  • Ability to contribute to the yearly strategic planning of the department.
  • Demonstrated experience with the use of social media and website design to solicit gifts and communicate with constituent groups. Ability to create, design, manage, and maintain information for the Web.
Required Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience in program development, implementation, or management required, including 1 year of direct fund-raising or transferrable experience. Transferrable experience includes meeting/event planning/management, volunteer management, sales, public relations, marketing, admissions, or trust officer experience; higher education administration experience preferred.

OR

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years' experience in program development, implementation, or management required, including 1 year of direct fund-raising or transferrable experience. Transferrable experience includes meeting/event planning/management, volunteer management, sales, public relations, marketing, admissions, or trust officer experience; higher education administration experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commitment to the values of an institution of higher education, required
  • Knowledge of various software systems, such as Word and Access preferred
