The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, affiliated with the Children's Hospital of New Mexico, is seeking a full-time Pediatric Cardiologist at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. Salary, level, and track will be commensurate with training and experience. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Cardiology and with potential for a career in academic medicine. A good balance of clinical and teaching experience awaits the successful candidate in this tertiary care pediatric practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for your graduating fellows and colleagues with interest in the South West region of United States. The ideal candidate is expected to have great clinical and teaching skills. Medical license eligibility in New Mexico and authorized to work in the U.S. are a must. Interest in Clinical or basic science research is highly desirable but not required. Applicants with transesophageal and fetal echocardiography skills, or applicants with ability to manage post-operative cardiac infants and neonates are needed. Those with a focus on outpatient cardiology and outreach are also strongly encouraged to apply. Excellent mentoring will be made available to early and mid-career faculty members. Opportunities for growth in cardiac imaging, and other aspects of non-invasive pediatric cardiology are available.
The UNM program has had the largest adult with congenital heart disease program in the State, the only medical school, and pediatric residency program in the area. Given a growing cardiac surgical program, we are seeking additional pediatric cardiologists to help with the clinical, teaching, and research needs. The Children's Hospital of New Mexico is a 143-bed facility. It is the only academic pediatric hospital in the State of New Mexico with a 20 bed PICU and a 36 bed NICU, and the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the State. The UNM Health Sciences Center (UNM HSC) and Medical School are dedicated to medical education, research, and health care as a service commitment to the community.

- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology
- Eligible to be licensed in the State of New Mexico
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Demonstrated excellence as a general clinical pediatric cardiologist
- Record of Teaching Experience
- Additional experience with training in non-invasive imaging is desirable
