Position Highlights

We are accepting applications for Postdoctoral Research Associate I in the laboratory of Dr. Heidi Mansour in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy. The area of research focuses on peptide and glycopeptide synthetic chemistry, comprehensive physicochemical pharmaceutical characterization, advanced spray drying particle engineering design tailored for respiratory drug delivery, in vitro cell culture on respiratory/brain/neuro cells, in vitro aerosol dispersion performance of dry powder inhalers, electron microscopy, bioanalysis of biosamples, in vivo mouse/rat inhalation experiments by nebulization and dry powder inhalation, in vivo tail-flick experiments, in silico computer modeling of therapeutic peptide/proteins, and formulation engineering design/drug delivery. In addition, lab mentoring of graduate students, group meeting presentations, and manuscript writing for publications are all expected.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Postdoc will be responsible for peptide and glycopeptide synthetic chemistry, comprehensive physiochemical pharmaceutical characterization, advanced spray drying particle engineering design tailored for respiratory drug delivery, in vitro cell culture on respiratory/brain/neuro cells, in vitro aerosol dispersion performance of dry powder inhalers, electron microscopy, bioanalysis of biosamples, in vivo mouse/rat inhalation experiments by nebulization and dry powder in halation, in vivo tail-flick experiments, in silico computer modeling of therapeutic peptide/proteins, and formulation enginerring design/drug delivery. In addition, lab mentoring of graduate students, group meeting presentations, and manuscript writing for publications are all expected.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Pharmaceutics
  • Demonstrated publications and presentations in pharmaceutics and respiratory drug delivery
  • Hands-on experience and expertise in all of the following: peptide and glycopeptide synthetic chemistry, comprehensive physicochemical characterization pharmaceutical techniques, advanced spray drying particle engineering design tailored for respiratory drug delivery, in vitro cell culture on respiratory/brain/neuro cells, in vitro aerosol dispersion performance of dry powder inhalers, and advanced formulation design drug development.

Available to start in July/August 2021

FLSA: Exempt

Full Time/Part Time: To be Determined
