Description of Work Unit

Throughout its history, the School of Social Work at Colorado State University has made a continuous effort to develop and maintain a program that is responsive to three distinct, but related, interests:

Position Summary

The Organizational Support Advocate will share responsibilities for advancing the Peer Alliance's mission and guiding principles. They be we responsible for assisting in the development of organizational, website, and social media logistics for the Peer Alliance

Position Minimum Qualifications
  • First hand experience with receiving mental health services, psychiatric diagnosis, trauma, problematic substance use, and other life-interrupting challenges required
  • Prior administrative non-profit experience strongly preferred
  • Commitment to social justice principles and examining and undoing racism, sexisim, homophobia, transphobia, classism, ableism, psychiatrict oppression, etc.
  • Self-aware and able to take responsibility for own mistakes, successes, weaknesses and strengths
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with development of organizations, website and social media platforms

Job Duty Category: Organizational Support

  • Share responsibilities for defining and implementing a formal structure for the Peer Alliance, including support with Articles of Incorporation and By-laws or other incorporation materials, as relevant and appropriate.

Job Duty Category: Online Support

  • Contribute to defining best practices in peer support through written materials produced by the Peer Alliance
  • Gather resources that can be used on the Peer Alliance website
  • Share responsibilities with a web developer to build a functional dynamic website for the Peer Alliance
  • Ensure website is developed with all relevant accessibility and Spanish language options
  • Share responsibilities for creating social media channels for the Peer Alliance

  • Work to remain up to date on current resources and knowledge of the broader movement by attending trainings and reading related articles and/or books as available
  • Familiarize self with activities and events offered i different areas of the community
  • Attends local and statewide meetings of relevance to the Peer Alliance

Job Duty Category: Administrative

  • Complete administrative tasks as required including timesheets, basic documentation , etc.
  • Keep supervisory support when needed
