The Senior Data Analyst will mine appropriate internal and external data sources while successfully conveying key findings in a digestible format. This position will use data visualization and analysis tools to create reports and presentations based on their findings. In this capacity, this role will disseminate salient analysis to develop strategic insights to drive Advancement's mission. The Senior Data Analyst will also conduct process, functional, and data analysis to design creative solutions for the front line fundraising units of Advancement. In this position, the incumbent will rely on critical data visualization skills to condense large data arrays into user friendly insights that can be comprehended by staff of various levels of analytical sophistication. This individual will work within the Advancement team to develop qualitative and quantitative data collection instruments that will ensure that critical information is being accurately recorded. This role will serve as a subject matter expert for data design, evaluation, and assessment helping to advise managers on where to harness better return on value and potential donor streams. The Senior Data Analyst works to advance how data is applied to strategic decision making at the department level. The position will also serve as an information resource between front line fundraisers and the Advancement Information Services team, and will serve as a knowledge resource during the selection and conversion of a new CRM system. This position will identify areas for process improvement and serve as a key analyst for development and enhancement projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to document use cases, solutions and recommendations
  • Highly proficient in the use of dashboard and visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Demonstrated expertise deploying reliable data platforms and data quality management systems
  • Advanced skills in the evaluation, design, and deployment of new tools, frameworks, and patterns to build scalable data platforms
  • Excellent database design skills to include SQL and NoSQL - Highly proficient data analysis and data management skills
  • Excellent analytical thinking - Working knowledge of programming languages and frameworks
  • Working knowledge of Data Modeling - Proficient skills working with Visualization and Reporting Tools (Power BI, Cognos, MicroStrategy).
  • Ability to solve analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
  • Experience managing others in a creative environment - Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Required Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Three (3) years' relevant IT experience to include SQL, data modeling, reporting, visualization, and ETL.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Business Intelligence experience in Higher Education type organization.
