Job Description

The purpose of the Student Life Specialist - Active Student Support is to support the functions of Student Organizations at Purdue University Global. This includes monitoring requirements, managing Student Organization Advisors, supporting student initiatives, and creating professional development opportunities for all students.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assure that each student organization is compliant with its By-Laws and with all requirements detailed in the University Handbook for Registered Student Organizations, University's ethics, values and code of conduct.

  • Lead marketing and communication activities that create student awareness and understanding of what Student Life offers; that highlight its benefits to student education and professional goals; that attract strong faculty advisors and promote student activities that achieve the goals of enhanced learning outside the classroom, leadership development, and a strong alumni group.

  • Create collaborative relationships with the School Deans and other University departments that can support the mission, strategy and goals of Student Life.

  • Maintain ongoing training and other support resources for student organization advisors and for student leaders who serve as officers of their organizations.

  • Create and manage a budget for Student Life and provide strong oversight of the individual student organization financial activities.

  • Develop partnerships with national organizations (honor societies and professional groups) that enrich the Student Life community.

  • Serve as a representative of the Office of Student Life and Purdue Global University, engaging and communicating with students, faculty, and administrators on a regular basis.

  • Partner with the Manager of Student Life and other departments to develop programs that will support student learning outside the classroom.

  • Develop and present workshops and programs related to leadership, wellness, and student organization management.

  • Supervise Federal Work Study Student(s)

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in Higher Education Administration, Student Organizations, Student Affairs, Student Life

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, experience in relationship management system(s), website design and maintenance

  • Strong understanding of Student Development Theory, Understanding of the Contemporary Student, Basic Understanding of Accounting

  • Technology savvy; strong service and support orientation; self-motivated problem solver; strong written communication skills; detail oriented
