JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Pennsylvania State University's Office of the Bursar Information Technology unit seeks a Programmer/Analyst 3 to assist in the design, development and implementation of new systems and applications and to provide support of existing systems within the Office of the Bursar.
Primary position duties include planning, organizing, and scheduling projects for analysis, programming and implementation of major system projects with University-wide impact while meeting the needs of customers and compliance requirements; conducting studies of major system problems and developing precise problem definitions, analyzing alternatives and developing best solutions; and assisting in building and maintaining administrative web applications (EASIS) within the Office of the Bursar.
The successful candidate for this position will serve as an expert to management and staff within Office of the Bursar and must demonstrate knowledge of broad concepts and procedures related to the development, implementation, and support of information systems with university-wide impact. They must possess:
Project management skills to accomplish projects and tasks that have University-wide impact.
Knowledge of system and application development, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
Good communication skills to provide training and support for internal users of the systems.
Education and Experience: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher and 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with web-related technologies including HTML, XHTML, CSS, ColdFusion and SQL
Familiar with common software standards and relationship database design
Knowledge of financial accounting
Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing, strong organizational skills
Proven record of success as a member of a professional team
Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with our academic partners
Accountability, attention to detail and a proven commitment to customer service
