The Welcome Center Coordinator is responsible for establishing initial contact with perspective students, verifying prospective student‘s contact information and performing qualifying questionnaire. Communication will take place through telephone, e-mail, and/or live chat, using provided scripts.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Focus on recruitment in northwest Ohio and the tristate area 
  • Concentration on workforce development and certificate programs
  • Makes outbound calls to prospective student inquiries
  • Determines and clarifies prospective student needs
  • Performs initial screening to determine interest level and program of choice for university partnership student
  • Assists in developing university onboarding strategy with Welcome Center leadership and serves as the frontline for prospective student
  • Guides prospective students through the application process
  • Assists Student Success Coach team in engaging withdrawn and NE students
  • Makes outbound calls to prospective student inquiries
  • Determines and clarifies prospective student needs
  • Perform initial screening to determine interest level and program of choice for university partnership students
  • Provides incoming students with transfer credit information and details on submitting official transcripts
  • Obtain completed official transcript release from prospective students
  • Begins entry level cost conversation with prospective students and advises prospective students to complete the FAFSA and provided FAFSA instructions and school code information in the absence of Welcome Center Coordinator
  • Provide potential students instructions on completing their application and advise them to being the application process in the absence of Welcome Center Coordinator
  • Serves as back up to Success Coaches and Welcome Center Representatives and assists with follow up and outreach as needed
  • Engage with alumni and donors in phone campaigns to provide information about new programs and upcoming events and opportunities at Union.
  • Answer all incoming phone calls and directing to appropriate department area
  • Maintains student database by entering information
  • Confirm and update alumni and current student information as communication occurs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional customer service, active listening, and verbal and written communication skills, professional phone etiquette; bilingual preferred dependent upon student demand
  • Superior marketing and recruiting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and a self-starter.
  • Strong oral, interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple projects, prioritize work and strong organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented so as to complete work assignments accurately and on time.
  • Proficiency with technology and data entry
  • Ability to work with colleagues, alumni, faculty, and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be culturally competent and aware of the needs of diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and take appropriate action, and to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students and the public through excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Skilled in listening to issues, synthesizing information, and reaching sound conclusions.
  • Must be comfortable working with students and colleagues in an online environment.
  • Must be competent in managing appropriate software applications and forms of technology as needed

  • Some evening and weekend work expected.
  • The ability to move and transport heavy boxes of materials is required - 20 to 30 pound objects occasionally
