Job Summary:

The Trades Technologies (TT) Program Director is responsible for ensuring that the TT Program areas are annually evaluated for content that is relevant to the dynamic environment needs of our industry partners. With the rapidly changing technologies, the need to ensure that our equipment, instruction, and delivery models meet the region's workforce training needs. Is also responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the TT Program specifically for the Construction and Building Trades (BLDT and DCTM) programs, the Utility and Energy Systems (UES - includes Electrical Technology Programs [ELTE], Electrical Lineworker Program [ELTA] and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Program [HVAC]) programs and the Automotive (AUTM) and Heavy Equipment (HERT) programs. With regard to instruction for all TT Program areas, will have responsibility for facilitation of curriculum development, program review, ensuring compliance for all accredited program areas, scheduling faculty and courses, preparing TT program budget and monitoring expenditures, ensures that equipment in the labs follow a maintenance plan and obtain the necessary repairs, assists with identifying new equipment needs and planning for acquisition of such; plans for program marketing and maintains liaison with external agencies, advisory committees and the greater Lansing community in regards to issues pertaining to program development and service delivery. The incumbent assumes direct responsibility for the management of assigned faculty and staff. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university or equivalent combination of a Bachelor's Degree and related work experience
  • Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge within the Trades Technology program areas
  • Significant management/supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in a TT related area of study
  • Successful professional experience (or several years' progressive experience) in complex institutional organizations, preferably post-secondary education institutions
  • Two years management/supervisory experience
