Lourdes University invites applicants for the position(s) of Nursing Learning Laboratory Teaching Assistant. Hiring for full and part time positions.

The College of Nursing Learning Laboratory Teaching Assistant is responsible for overseeing laboratory experiences including, but not limited to: guiding students’ nursing critical thinking and skills development; participation in simulation; working under the direction of faculty to provide instruction and evaluation of students in the laboratory setting; and assisting with set up, maintenance, and inventorying of equipment and supplies.


  • Guide undergraduate student practice of clinical nursing skills providing supportive and corrective feedback.
  • Provide access for nursing students to equipment and supplies for independent practice of clinical skills.
  • Participate in 1:1 student appointments, which may include competencies.
  • Assist in setting up for lab classes and independent practice opportunities.
  • Assist in simulation process including development, set up, operation, and participation.
  • Under the direction of the Semester Coordinator conducts lab evaluation feedback and final lab evaluations.
  • Maintains communication in a timely manner with appropriate semester participants via communication forums, email, phone, etc. by contacting the Semester Coordinator regarding students who are not meeting lab learning outcomes/objectives. 
  • Submits lab evaluations of students’ performance to the Semester Coordinator at the end of the semester.
  • Provides input into course development in collaboration with Semester Coordinator and/or Director of the Nursing Learning Laboratory.


  • BSN required, MSN preferred
  • Ability to work with students from a variety of cultural backgrounds
  • Patience and flexibility when teaching
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent communication methods to ensure that students understand what is being taught and feel comfortable asking questions
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
