Performs Administrative duties for the department and the department's programs. Processes payments to vendors and reimbursements for department faculty, graduate students and visitors. Serves as point of contact for all departmental matters. Organizes, delegates and provides logistical support for seminars, conferences and events. Coordinates the scheduling of all mathematics courses and provides administrative support for instructors. Handles day to day operations, including reception, supplies inventory, and events planning. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of department and organization policies and procedures. Maintains and supervises the faculty and graduate student application process. Acts as liaison with other University administrative units. Supervises two other mathematics department staff members.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Adobe)
  • Proficient and accurate data entry skills
  • Ability to work effectively with others of diverse personalities, education, nationality, and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to establish priorities, exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality and integrity in the performance of al duties
  • Ability to work with multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to successfully meet established project deadlines
  • Ability to supervise the work of others
  • Ability to coordinate and organize events with budget limitations
  • Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with individuals within and outside the University
Required Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma/equivalent and two years' relevant work experience to include experience in computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, web-based programs, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with more than two years' relevant work experience to include experience in computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, web-based programs, etc.)
  • University or related office experience
  • Familiarity with CONCUR, Kronos, CourseLeaf and other programs used at Tulane
