The Office of Marketing and Communications plays a strategic role in supporting the success of the college's short-term and long-term goals for enrollment, alumni relations, philanthropy, brand visibility, and external reputation. Within our office, the communications team is a group of creative and strategy-oriented storytellers who enjoy working across all types of media and channels to showcase the very best of the college of business. We develop and execute the messaging and content strategies that connect meaningfully with our prospective and current students, alumni, and media.
The Director of Web and Digital Experience is an established webmaster and digital strategist that will plan, create, launch and optimize web projects to support the recruitment, engagement and reputation needs for the SC Johnson College of Business websites. This role will provide leadership for web marketing and development by managing web projects, defining development priorities, and working closely with IT developers and agencies to build new features, maintain platform updates and support WCAG 2.0 accessibility.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications with a dotted line to the Executive Director of Information Technology for the college, this individual collaborates with multiple teams including Integrated Marketing, Creative, Content Communications, SEO, Marketing Automation and key leadership groups throughout the college. This role is closely partnered with IT and acts as the marcom point person between the two groups to help lead development and accessibility within WordPress and supporting platforms.
Remote Work Eligibility:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the University's need to limit the number of on-campus employees, the successful applicant will be asked to perform this role remotely at a location of their choice in the United States. This position is eligible for ongoing part-time or full-time remote-work status, even once the Ithaca campus permits more employees to work on campus. The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.
- 7-10 years of relevant web and digital marketing experience.
- 3-5 years of management experience.
- Related bachelor's degree required.
- Related IT experience is preferred.
- Deep understanding of web technology and tools, including WordPress, Google Analytics, Salesforce, and Pardot.
- Web UX/UI and design experience and be able to lead others and collaborate cross-functionally in this area.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in building and leading web marketing programs.
- Experience managing complex web projects, site migrations, 3rd party integrations and technology stack changes.
- Experience working with multiple IT groups including project managers, and frontend / back end developers.
- Expertise and awareness of digital channel strategies and programs, including new/emerging technologies.
- Ability to support and balance SEO, content, creative, web accessibility and developer requirements.
- Outstanding project management and analytical skills.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier leaders, both internal and external, as well as ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization enterprise-wide.
- Ability to develop advanced concepts and solutions to problems that require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovation.
- Ability to work cohesively throughout multiple groups.
