We support and empower people to start and grow new ventures. The Center for Regional Economic Advancement (CREA) is a young, active, and fast-growing group. Since 2014, we have launched over a dozen new programs and raised over $30m for entrepreneurship and economic development programs. Our team is nimble and lean; made up of over 20 professional staff, 14 entrepreneurs in residence, and 10+ student employees.

What you will do:

As a Program Assistant for Entrepreneurship Programs, you will be joining the Program Operations Team which works across all of our entrepreneurship programs. The team ensures effective support and a high level of accountability and consistency that program participants and program directors can rely on. The team also ensures that the systems and standards used across programs are designed and maintained in such a way that allows us to continue to efficiently scale as CREA grows. A successful Program Assistant is an energetic professional, experienced in handling a wide range of programmatic and administrative duties, with the capability of resolving complex situations with good judgement. A strong candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities in this fast paced and entrepreneurial environment.

In this role, you will have responsibilities such as but not limited to:

Work with the Program Directors to establish event program timelines, including recruiting activity and program promotion, defining application and reporting periods, identify dates for information and content sessions, office hours, etc. Manage the regular communication to program participants and attend/support programmatic events. Coordinate application and interview process for cohort-based entrepreneurship programs. Schedule and track meetings for our team of Entrepreneurs in Residence with program participants. Maintain staff access, troubleshoot, and problem solve minor issues related a variety of the systems we use to support our programs.

This is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension depending on funding and performance.

Potential for Ongoing Remote

This position is located in Ithaca, New York. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the University's need to limit the number of on-campus employees, the successful applicant will be asked to perform this role remotely in the United States. This position may be considered for ongoing remote-work status, even once the campus permits more employees to work on campus.

The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.

You will need:
Associate's degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Initiative take initiative and operate with self-direction in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to Multitask: Thoughtfully balance conflicting priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Planning and Organizational Skills: Ability organize projects quickly and set and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
  • Self Motivation: Candidates must be eager to learn, be willing to make change when needed.
  • Flexible and Maintains Composure: Ability to adapt quickly under pressure.

If you have any of the following, it's a great bonus:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in coordinating programs.
  • Experience using systems like Airtable, Box, Calendly, Excel, Eventbrite, Mailchimp, Qualtrics, Salesforce, Zoom, etc.
