Job Summary
Education Support Services (ESS), formerly Instructional Media Services, inthe Faculty of Arts and Sciencesprovides world-class audiovisualand instructional support, training, and consulting services to faculty, staff, students. The team supports the school's mission by delivering premium technology offerings that enhance and creatively advance the teaching & learning environment.

ESS is comprised of six service groups: Assistive Technology, Piano Technical Services, the Language Center, Teaching. & Learning Support, Design & Engineering, and Event & Media Production. This role will be a part of the Teaching & Learning Support team.

The Senior Multimedia Technician would work to support faculty, students, and staff in the use and care of classroom multimedia and digital video capture equipment; regularly advance knowledge of emerging audio, video, and multimedia technologies; and coordinate multimedia technology for class demonstrations with the laboratory preparation staff.

Job-Specific Responsibilities
  • Provide multimedia technology support for classes and events.
  • Oversees capture hardware installation, configuration, updates, and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for supervising classroom recordings and provisioning course catalogs.
  • Document technical problems and develops solutions and workarounds for failures.
  • Regularly update HUIT and is in direct contact with the technical staff.
  • Works with FAS and another Harvard faculty to meet their classroom technology needs.
  • Set up and break down various classroom technology throughout the day.
  • Perform video recording and content delivery for faculty.
  • Conduct classroom integration, explore options and collaborate with Harvard University departments beyond FAS.
  • Research, pilot, and explore new solutions to improve the overall workflow of technical services.
  • Responsible for implementing some IT solutions and the design of video signal flow.
  • Perform repairs on classroom equipment. on component level electronics, various mechanical issues, and installed equipment.
  • Provide event production and support and client needs.
  • Provide administrative and clerical duties include daily monitoring of our video recording and archive, update classroom support sheets, notify the team of any updates of equipment or new solutions, organize and schedule meetings with faculty and TFs, coordinate with clients, design and distribute classroom signs, and answer phone calls.
  • Perform event services during weekend and evening hours.(when required)
Basic Qualifications
  • At least two years working with multimedia equipment and applications
  • At least two years of completed college courses.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or technical school certification preferred
  • Successful experience providing multimedia customer service in a fast-paced, academic environment.
  • Proven ability to supervise, deliver professional customer service, and manage multiple simultaneous work assignments.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical process issues.
  • Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communications skills.
  • CTS certification; Crestron DMC-E; experience with Dante.
  • College background in related multimedia and /or technology preferred.
  • Ability to work with a range of constituents and to develop solutions to service problems in a client-friendly manner.
  • Knowledge of a range of computer software and operating systems is preferred.
Physical Requirements

Can lift or carry up to 25 lbs of equipment.
