Job Description:

The Learning Management System (LMS) Specialist provides day-to-day support and technical assistance for Purdue University Global's LMS. The position will work closely with the LMS Administrator, Curriculum team, and other business stakeholders to develop, implement, deliver, and maintain online instructional resources that provide the best online learning experience. This includes 3rd party integration, testing and implementing new LMS features, and implementing content changes to course shells.

The LMS Specialist is responsible for serving as the subject matter expert and advisor on LMS functionality and processes. The LMS Specialist will be responsible for answering key questions of participants, both in-person and online, over online chat, email, and telephone communication. The LMS Specialist will also be responsible for supporting integration with other information systems and providing technical support, troubleshooting, and testing activities, when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support daily operations with the LMS

  • Experience developing and documenting processes or policies as needed to establish consistent use of the system.

  • Create and maintain HTML templates for building courses.

  • Address technical bugs and other system issues from identification through resolution.

  • Understand and articulate system requirements and constraints.

  • Make recommendations on future improvements to content management, workflow processes, and user experience.

  • Demonstrate proactivity, attention to detail, working within deadlines, and ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Work with vendors and stakeholders on the review, implementation, testing of third-party tools.

  • Maintain professional working relationships with multiple clients and vendors.

  • Coordinate support from internal and external subject matter experts to maintain and test system integration requirements.

  • Complete daily tasks such as developing and sending status reports, responding to customer questions, and publishing courseware.

  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or a discipline involving the application of technology to education; Master's Degree in Technology with Web Programming experience preferred.

  • 2- 4 years of prior experience with D2L Brightspace or other current LMS systems.

  • Experience with web development, including HTML5, CSS, and JScript.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).

  • Must be comfortable in a technology-focused environment.

  • Strong communication, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills

  • Must exhibit attention to detail and have excellent time and project management skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing operating systems and technological environments.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as a member of a team.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.

  • Expertise in customer service.

  • Skilled at communicating technical information in terms understandable to non-technical end-users.

  • Skilled at analyzing and troubleshooting software and hardware user problems.

  • Experienced at training others to use specialized software.

  • Dependable, flexible, and comfortable in a virtual working environment.
