Description of Work Unit

The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men's and women's intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of the NCAA Division I-FBS and the Mountain West Conference. The University is located in Fort Collins, Colorado, 65 miles north of Denver. Position Summary

This position is responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy of programs and efforts to solicit and schedule external events in the new football stadium and other Athletics facilities, particularly in premium spaces. Position is responsible for generating a minimum of $300,000 annually in revenue support for the Department from such events. Position is also responsible for overseeing the overall management of the event including supervising an events coordinator.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, communications, marketing, management, liberal arts, sociology, tourism or any other field related to duties and responsibilities
  • Three years of full-time progressive, results-oriented professional experience in sales/fundraising/marketing or related work experience
  • Demonstrated skill in developing and achieving revenue goals
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with internal and external constituencies
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and oral/written/electronic communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and follow-through skills
  • Proven ability as self-starter and problem solver
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively network and market the stadium property
  • Ability to prepare and present weekly/monthly sales reports

  • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

  • Three years of event management experience; Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) certification preferred

Duty/Responsibility
  • Be responsible for generating a minimum of $300,000 annually in non-game day stadium revenue
  • Research/engage/meet with potential clients to solicit business
  • Attend various community, social and business events
  • Promote/market/sell premium spaces to public, corporations/businesses, civic organizations, CSU entities locally and regionally
  • Serve as first point of contact for all space utilization requests
  • Prepare cost estimates and negotiate rental agreement contracts
  • Meet and greet clients, conduct property tours and promote facilities and services; answer customer inquiries
  • Facilitate event bookings for the Alumni Relations spaces at the stadium

Duty/Responsibility
  • Create a facility booking process that integrates requests from campus partners (Facilities, Lory Student Center, Conference Services, etc.)
  • Establish usage guidelines including rental costs
  • Develop/implement billing and accounting procedures
  • Work with University entities on contract specifics and rental agreements
  • Work closely with facility directors to ensure coordination with scheduling and set-up staff
  • Create a reference guide for prospective clients including diagrams of event spaces, costs, food/beverage options, video/equipment needs, etc.
  • Maintain solid and open communication with all operating units; provide support as necessary; maintain current information on actual and potential programs
  • Prepare and present weekly/monthly sales reports
  • Maintain and continually update event calendar
  • Work effectively with a culturally diverse community and advance the Department's commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Be knowledgeable of appropriate NCAA rules/regulations and support the Department's commitment to a culture of compliance

  • Prepare and disseminate event information, including setup/teardown, labor, equipment, power requirements, etc. in a timely manner
  • Supervise and attend the overall set up and implementation of events to ensure proper servicing of accounts
  • Conduct weekly event meetings
  • Create, implement and continually improve client services program
  • Follow up with clients following event to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Promptly respond to all client inquiries, comments and complaints, including last-minute client needs during event
