Assistant Professor of Education #6
Mississippi University for Women (MUW) invites applications for a full time nine month tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Education beginning fall 2021. The position requires excellence in teaching, scholarly activities and service. Summer teaching may be available. Earned doctorate with an evidence of three years P-6 teaching experience required. Previous experience supervising student teaching required and working with student teachers preferred. This position is designated for elementary education and/or early childhood development generalists who are qualified to teach at the undergraduate or graduate level.
The Assistant Professor of Education is responsible for undergraduate/graduate teaching (4-4 load) with summer teaching opportunities possible, is involved in academic advising as well as the department’s student recruitment and retention strategies, takes part as requested in learning outcomes assessment and program assessment, accreditation reporting and in School of Education initiatives related to innovations in curriculum and delivery, carries out an agenda of scholarly work and professional development (research, conference participation, etc.), and is involved in service to the School and university as appropriate.
Required: earned doctorate in Education and preparation from a regionally accredited university; P-12 teaching/administration experience (demonstrating familiarity with current P-12 classroom methods and technology). Evidence of three years P-6 teaching experience required. Preferred: 18 additional graduate hours in early childhood education; demonstrated application of best practices in applying educational technology to innovate curriculum and new models of course delivery.
