Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) seeks applicants for a full-time 9-month faculty position to provide leadership and instruction for the Dental Hygiene program. Reporting to the Director of Health Professions, the successful candidate will serve as both instructor and site coordinator, assisting with the daily operation and administration of the distance learning component of an accredited dental hygiene program.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preclinical and clinical instruction, clinical management and administration, academic advising, counseling, and recruitment, management of the budget at the distance site (LFCC) with oversight provided by the parent program director, and administrative duties at the distance campus (LFCC). The successful candidate will work with the parent program and constituents from across the college and community to help shape the direction and future of the program. The faculty member will use multiple methods of instruction, assessment results and appropriate instructional technologies to engage students in learning and self-development activities geared toward student success, retention, and completion.
The ideal candidate will teach in traditional and non-traditional settings, including hybrid and/or online courses, which may be in a variety of formats and lengths and will facilitate student learning and development activities outside the classroom (e.g., Clinical experiences, clubs, experiences for students in the community, etc.). This candidate will collaborate in the development of new course curriculum, degrees, certificates, and trainings, as appropriate, that align with the direction of the Dental Hygiene Program and the School of Professional Programs. The candidate will work to strengthen and expand relationships and partnerships with K-12, higher education, the professional community, professional organizations, and community organizations, in support of the college mission, vision, and values. We are looking for a faculty member with demonstrated commitment to excellence in service, innovation, student success, and integrity in the performance of job duties.
This position is primarily assigned to the Middletown Campus of Lord Fairfax Community College but may be assigned to teach at all LFCC locations.
Compensation and Benefits
The minimum salary for the 9-month position is $45,965.00 per year, however, actual starting salary will commensurate with education and/or experience. The position is an administrative role and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies and the Virginia Community College System. Fiscal year 2021 is one of the strongest years for Virginia Community Colleges in recent state budget history. The G3 (Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back) program, which goes into effect on July 1 2021, allows students who quality for full Pell Grants to get $1,000 grants per semester and $500 during the summer to receive a certificate for studying health care, information technology, manufacturing and skilled trades, early childhood education and public safety. Participants will be required to give back two hours of community service, public service, or work experience for each credit hour in which they are enrolled. The program provides funding for tuition, fees and books and other expenses for eligible low- and middle-income students who are pursuing degrees in high-demand fields, including health care, information technology and computer science, manufacturing and skilled trades, public safety and early childhood education. Lawmakers also allocated an additional $5 million in the upcoming budget year to hire 60 badly-needed new community college advisors to help enroll new students and help them successfully navigate the world of higher education. The legislature also approved money to give state classified workers and college faculty (full time and adjunct) five percent pay raises, effective July 1 2021. VCCS leadership said it will work to ensure that P-14 part-time employees also receive the pay raises.
LFCC continues to prepare for the future; our facilities and campus improvement projects include newly completed Luray Page County Center (Jenkins Hall) in Luray, VA as well as the anticipated Hazel Hall Building at our Fauquier Campus in Warrenton, VA.

- Baccalaureate degree in a Dental Hygiene teaching discipline and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
- Graduate of dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
