Description of Work Unit

The School of Education faculty is comprised of educator-scholars whose expertise spans diverse learning contexts and populations. Innovative instruction, diversity/equity/inclusion, technology-enhanced learning, distance education, service learning, professional development school partnerships, and rigorous research are embodied in all of our programs. Our faculty members' philosophies and areas of expertise, along with the School's core values, guide our pedagogical and inquiry practices, which are typically both interdisciplinary and applied.

The Counseling and Career Development (CCD) MA program is an in-person program that offers three specializations accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP): Career Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Counseling. The CCD program has a rich history of excellence in counselor education and a strong reputation for quality teaching and student development. The School of Education is interested in applicants who are deeply committed to counselor education and training that generates graduates who will impact the field.

Position Summary

Coordinate the clinical field experiences (practicum and internship) for the students in the Counseling and Career Development Program. Additional responsibilities include teaching two clinical field experience courses (practicum and/or internship) each year, assisting with clinic/field experience research, and fulfilling other service responsibilities. Required Job Qualifications
  • PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision (or earned by start date), preferably from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado or professional counseling licensure-eligible in the State of Colorado.
  • Experience with graduate teaching and clinical supervision.
  • Two years of clinical mental health counseling, career counseling, and/or school counseling experience.

Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Experience in onboarding, using, and managing electronic health records systems, preferably Theranest.
  • Experience in using and managing Tevera (clinical training management system).
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching courses related to counseling field experiences (practicum and/or internship) including individual and group supervision.
  • Experience with 2 or more of the CCD program's specializations: clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, and career counseling.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with outside educational and counseling agencies/stakeholders.
  • Evidence of strong organizational and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Job Duty Category: Administration

Duty/Responsibility

Practicum coordination (30%) will include but not be limited to:

  • Update and maintain practicum learning management system including the practicum manual, syllabus, evaluation materials, and learning outcomes rubrics.
  • Manage all aspects of client and supervision electronic documentation systems, including training on systems.
  • Manage/perform client recruitment and screen procedures including assigning clients to practicum students. Contact potential clients for a wait list for services if necessary.
  • Order supplies for the practicum labs and work with students and supervisors to maintain the counseling facilities.
  • Assist with counseling and research-related recordkeeping for practicum students and faculty.
  • Work with the CCD program chair and SOE and CSU staff to keep the laboratory recording equipment functioning and as updated as possible.
  • Other practicum coordination duties as assigned.

Practicum coordination (30%) will include but not be limited to:

  • Update, maintain, and manage practicum electronic records and associated forms, logs, rubrics, etc.
  • Manage all aspects of client and supervision electronic documentation systems, including training on systems.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct practicum orientation and training for students.
  • Manage/perform client recruitment and screening including assigning clients to practicum students and scheduling intakes.
  • Provide appropriate on-site clinic presence during operating hours.
  • Work with the CCD program chair and SOE and CSU staff to keep clinic technology functioning and updated.
  • Manage supplies for the CCD clinic and work with CCD program chair on necessary procurements.
  • Work with students and practicum supervisors to maintain clinic facilities.
  • Collaborate with CCD faculty to update and maintain practicum manual and syllabus.
  • Other practicum coordination duties as assigned.
Internship Coordination (25%) will include but not be limited to:
  • Update and maintain CCD Internship clinical training management system and associated forms, logs, rubrics, etc.
  • Collaborate with CCD faculty to update and maintain internship manual and syllabus.
  • Orient and assist students with the process of identifying potential internship sites, securing internships, and following/completing all site procurement policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Collaborate with CCD faculty and students to confirm that internship sites and site supervisors meet CACREP and CCD criteria.
  • Collaborate with personnel in the College of Health and Human Sciences to establish MOUs with internship sites.

  • Work with CCD faculty to develop and deliver professional development materials for site supervisors regarding supervision.
  • Partner with current internship sites and site supervisors, as appropriate, in the development of their counselor-in-training programs and facilitate development of potential internship sites.
