Housed within the College of Engineering and Technology, the Department of Technology Systems (https://cet.ecu.edu/techsystems/) offers BS in Design, BS in Distribution and Logistics, BS in Industrial Engineering Technology, BS in Interior Design and Fashion Merchandizing, BS and MS in Industrial Technology, in Information and Cybersecurity Technology, MS in Technology Management; Cybersecurity Professional Certificate, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate, Network Management Professional Certificate, and a consortium-based PhD program in Technology Management. The department has 38 full-time faculty members and employs additional part time instructors each semester as needed to serve its more than 1700 students. The department is a leader in both traditional and distance delivery of technology-based, hands-on programs. Our onsite and remotely accessible labs are equipped with state-of-the art technology for instruction. The department is also home to the Center for IoT Engineering and Innovation (CIEI) that facilitates education and research involving the application of Internet of Things to solve various problems in manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, and more.

The College of Engineering and Technology (CET; https://cet.ecu.edu/) combines experiential education, applied research, and industry engagement to support faculty scholarship and student success. The college serves approximately 3,600 students and includes over 90 faculty across four departments âEUR" Computer Science, Construction Management, Engineering, and Technology Systems âEUR" that complement one another through shared academic strengths. CET serves as an engine for innovation and economic growth in eastern North Carolina, with impact in health, advanced manufacturing, critical infrastructure, and energy through applied research, industry partnerships, and initiatives such as the Center for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering (CSE3). Job Duties:

The Department of Technology Systems seeks a 9-month fixed term faculty member starting fall semester 2026 to teach a variety of courses in our

Interior Design program (https://cet.ecu.edu/techsystems/idmr/). The successful candidate will join a collaborative community of educators/scholars.

The successful candidate must possess the combination of education and experiences to teach undergraduate residential and commercial courses; build relationships with the community, employ technology, and connect with business and industry; inspire and promote rigor and student success; teach 4-4 course load in studio and lecture formats at varying levels in at least three of the following:
  • 2-D and 3-D visualization and design
  • Drafting and presentation applications consisting of AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, etc.
  • Graphic Presentations
  • Design for wellness
  • Interior construction and detailing
  • Building systems and codes
  • Professional practice
  • Virtual reality and artificial intelligence
Contingent upon available funding.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Interior design, interior architecture, MS in Architecture, or an area closely related to the Interior Design discipline. All degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:

Design certifications or licenses

Industry experience

Higher education teaching experience
