OU Facilities is hiring a Street Light Technician through OU's PEAK Temporary Staffing.

Essential Duties:

Under direct supervision, assist with routine maintenance to include installing, troubleshooting, servicing, inspecting, and repairing street light equipment and associated electrical system.

  • Assist with installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing streetlights
  • Assist with troubleshooting streetlight circuits and associated electrical equipment
  • Assist with cutting, threading, and bonding conduit; Assemble and replace conduit, conduit fittings, junction boxes and supports as associated with power supply to streetlights
  • Assist with streetlight pole setting
  • Locate and repair electrical wiring associated with streetlights
  • Assist with testing streetlight circuits
  • Use common hand tools, tubing, and conduit benders, power tools, and ladders. Participate in training and education activities as required
  • Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfil the function of the position to include assisting any skilled trade.


Job Requirements

*

Required: High School Diploma or GED or Trade School Certification; AND:

24 months electrical experience.

Department Preference:

  • At least 6 months electrical experience on streetlights

Certifications or Licenses:

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date
  • Must hold a current electrical journeyman's license with the State of Oklahoma.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used to repair or maintain electrical equipment or systems
  • Advanced knowledge of safety rules and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical codes
  • Ability to determine problems or when and what kind of maintenance is needed, and discuss with supervisor
  • Ability to read schematics, blue prints, and drawings

Physical Working Conditions:
Ability to exert strength when aiding in setting power poles and guy wires. Lifting heavy objects (minimum seventy-five pounds). Using wrists, hands, and fingers for repeated and intricate motions. Frequently standing, bending, and stooping often and for prolonged periods. Working for prolonged periods with arms overhead. Hauling tools and equipment up to and/or in excess of fifty pounds up and down ladders and stairs.

Environmental Working Conditions:
Working with high voltage equipment such as rotating machinery, circuit breakers, and power distribution systems. Working around both electric and mechanical safety hazards. Occasional exposure to fumes and odors. May be designated as an "essential position" during emergency closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies
