Simpson College has an immediate opening for a part-time Instructional Designer position (Maximum 29
hours per week)

Broad Function/Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for working with faculty to design and
create highly interactive online, blended, and face-to-face learning content for academic courses at Simpson College. The designer will
provide course design support and guidance to full-time and part-time Simpson faculty, working directly with faculty to help them plan,
design, develop, and revise course materials. They will assist faculty with academic technology-related questions and ways to modify
face-to-face courses for online delivery. The designer will handle multiple projects simultaneously, working collaboratively with staff and
faculty across the institution. Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Support full-time and part-time
Simpson faculty with the course design process, helping them develop activities and materials that enhance student learning and retention.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist faculty in posting video resources
  • Investigation,
    design, and deployment of instructional technologies that support learning both in the classroom and online
  • Updating
    technology-related resources in Moodle and on Simpson's Teaching & Learning Center webpages
  • Collaborating with the
    Office of Student Accessibility Services on student accommodations and UDL
  • Developing and providing training (both
    face-to-face and online) for Simpson's academic software platforms.
Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Broad experience with learning management systems
  • Knowledge of teaching in various modalities of blended and online
    instructional environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills, courtesy, and tact to communicate effectively with faculty and
    staff
  • Preference given to candidates with a teaching background.
