The Blinn College District is searching for a Part Time Tutor - Associate Degree Nursing at our RELLIS Campus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:

Job Summary

The Associate Degree Nursing Tutor is a part-time staff position at Blinn College, and the tutor supports classes they have taken previously as a student. The candidate will need an instructor referral from Blinn.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Provides educational assistance to students in subjects eligible to tutor, including the methods of studying and improving understanding and comprehension of subject matter content.
  • May collaborate with faculty to provide embedded tutoring support in specific, designated courses.
  • Works well in a team environment and may be required to take on a peer leadership or mentoring position in the tutoring center when requested to do so.
  • Hold scheduled appointments on campus, in-person at the tutoring space, or online over Zoom or Microsoft Teams, as needed.
  • Prepare for tutoring sessions by reviewing relevant material.
  • Meets and communicates with students in-person and via e-mail, eCampus, and other online platforms.
  • Contributes to the preparation of collaborative group tutoring sessions and materials that will enhance student understanding of coursework.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, confidentiality, and communication skills in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
  • Currently enrolled in Blinn's Associate Degree Nursing Program.
  • Grade A or B in the course being tutored. Reference from one professor in your major area of study who can attest to your knowledge, skills, and suitability to tutor.
Minimum Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and MS Office.
  • Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
  • A willingness to work with students.
  • Ability to communicate knowledge of course content in a way that is meaningful to students.
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of students with a wide range of abilities and diverse learning styles.
  • Ability to demonstrate verbal and written command of the English language.

This is a part time position, maximum of 19 hours per week.
