Position Purpose

In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer and informed by Tuck's strategic priorities, the Senior Director of Annual Giving provides strategic and operational leadership for Tuck's best-in-class annual giving program, ensuring ambitious financial and participation goals are achieved each fiscal year. The Senior Director fosters a long-term culture of philanthropy by appealing to a broad swath of alumni, students, and friends across their different stages of life.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp
Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  1. 10 or more years of progressive experience in annual giving or development leadership in non-profits.
  2. Proven record of meeting or exceeding fundraising and participation goals.
  3. Strong strategic planning, analytical, and communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated experience and skill leading and developing a team of successful fundraising professionals.
  5. Deep knowledge of fundraising, culminating gifts, marketing communications, and higher education administration.
  6. Able to anticipate, deliver on, and exceed the expectations of alumni, alumni class officers and volunteers, colleagues, supervisees, and other constituents.
  7. Able to introduce and drive innovation in ways small and large.
  8. Able to collaborate with others as primary means to achieve results.
  9. Able to seek out and create learning opportunities, including through those revealed by setbacks and failures as well as successes.
  10. Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in business school or professional school environment desirable.

Fundraising Leadership and Strategy: Develops and implements comprehensive annual giving strategies designed to meet and exceed annual revenue and participation goals. Creates innovative campaigns that utilize targeted segmentation and leverage multi-channel communications strategies to enhance donor solicitation, retention, and acquisition. Establishes performance metrics for annual giving; using data-driven insights regularly evaluates progress and adjusts strategies to meet fundraising targets. Collaborates closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, Dean, and leadership gift officers to close top-tier annual gifts in a dual-ask culture, utilizing reunions and volunteers.

Description

Team Leadership and Development: Leads, coaches, and inspires a team of annual giving professionals to achieve ambitious fundraising results and ensure participation goals are met or exceeded. Provides guidance and support in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding annual fund prospects and donors, including the student class gift. Serves as an expert on the various ways to make annual fund gifts including: stock, wire, IRA distribution, DAFs, and online gifts. Ensures strong collaboration with Advancement Operations, Communications, and Alumni Engagement to deliver a cohesive donor experience.

Description

Donor and Volunteer Engagement: Cultivates and solicits a select portfolio of leadership-level annual donors, in collaboration with major gift officers. Oversees annual fund volunteer programs, including class agents, reunion committees, and the Tuck Annual Giving Executive Committee. Engages alumni leaders, class officers, and volunteers to expand the base of annual fund supporters. Partners with Advancement Communications to craft messages that convey the impact of giving and inspire participation.

Innovation and Institutional Collaboration: Partners with institutional leadership, advancement colleagues at Tuck and Dartmouth, and key stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals, build capacity, and create a unified vision for annual giving. Champions innovation in fundraising methods, volunteer engagement, and stewardship. Represents Tuck at Dartmouth and peer Advancement meetings, sharing best practices and trends.
