Job Description
The Senior HVAC Technician is under the supervision of the HVAC Supervisor performing inspections, servicing, and repairing heating, cooling, ventilating and refrigeration equipment.

The Senior HVAC Technician is under the supervision of the HVAC Supervisor performing inspections, servicing, and repairing heating, cooling, ventilating and refrigeration equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC equipment to include the following: roof top units, chillers, cooling towers, central air handling equipment and boilers.
- Troubleshoot and repair control circuitry and refrigerant circuitry.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records on equipment.
- Serve as boiler operator as needed.
- Must wear proper PPE (safety shoes, hearing and eye protection)as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to successfully complete assignments using appropriate methods, materials, tools and equipment in maintenance work as described above.
- Ability to recognize occupational hazards and take appropriate safety precautions.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to effectively use a portable electronic device (cellular phone, digital tablet, laptop computer) to complete work orders.
- Ability to drive light motor vehicle.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under some unfavorable climatic conditions.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Ability to work in an on-call capacity and inclement weather duties.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Bending, twisting and lifting weights to 100lbs.
- Heights and working on elevations of 60 feet.
- Working in noisy environments occasionally
- Work off ladders and lifts.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- A minimum of three (3) year of previous commercial HVAC work experience.
- Universal refrigerant-handling certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience in building and/or energy management systems.
- HVAC work involving electrical, refrigerants, air and water balancing and air flow.
- A background check will be required of the successful applicant.
