Position Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Physical Therapy
Position Type: Full-Time; 12-month; hybrid-remote

Augustana University invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Minnesota Program at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This 12-month, non-tenure track position offers the opportunity to join a forward-thinking, innovative, faculty and program created to prepare the next generation of innovative physical therapists. The anticipated start date is as early as December 1, 2025.
Augustana’s accelerated, hybrid DPT-MN program is fully accredited and blends synchronous and asynchronous online learning with intensive on-campus lab experiences. Faculty enjoy the flexibility of residing remotely while actively engaging in high-quality teaching, scholarship, and service. Faculty must regularly travel to labs in Bloomington, Minnesota and periodically to Sioux Falls, SD, for events such as student orientation and graduation.
Candidate Qualifications
We seek an educator and clinician who brings passion, expertise, and innovation to physical therapy education. Areas of priority include:
Contemporary Clinical Expertise and Knowledge of
Required: Acute Care, Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy, and/or the care of complex patients
Additional areas of teaching may include: Physical Therapy Fundamentals, Therapeutic Intervention, and Innovation/Entrepreneurship
Teaching and Scholarship evidence of experience in higher education, ideally within hybrid doctoral-level PT education.
Professional Engagement, with an understanding of contemporary physical therapy practice, higher education, and regulatory and legislative issues impacting the profession.
Technical and Communication Skills to support student learning in a hybrid instructional environment.
Required Credentials
A terminal academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc, or equivalent) or a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT/tDPT) with ABPTS board certification and/or completion of a teaching residency.
Hold an active physical therapy license in the applicant’s home state, with eligibility for licensure/PT compact privileges in Minnesota and South Dakota.
Ability to demonstrate essential tasks and functions, including:
