Job Description

The School of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for appointment to a 9-month non-tenure earning position at the level of Instructor and will serve with a 12-month administrative role as the Director of Clinical Experiences to begin August 2026. This position blends teaching responsibilities with leadership in clinical placements across teacher preparation programs. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Accreditation and Assessment, the Director will coordinate and assign P-12 field and clinical placements, act as the primary liaison with regional partner schools, and manage contracts, records, and agreements with university supervisors and cooperating teachers. The Director will work with program faculty on key initiatives (e.g., training and supporting the co-teaching model in P-6 education). The role also involves ensuring compliance with accreditation and certification standards, providing orientation and professional development for candidates and mentors, and teaching assigned courses while supporting program innovation.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience with current (expired acceptable) professional teaching certification

Education Specialist or Doctorate (PhD or EdD) degree
