Job Description

Ohio University Regional Higher Education, Lancaster campus and the College of Heath Sciences and Professions, invite applications for the Director of Clinical Education, Respiratory Therapy position. This role has responsibilities for the day-to-day oversight of all clinical aspects of the program. This is a full-time 12-month faculty position.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Coordinate all clinical aspects of the respiratory therapy/care program activities with the Director of Respiratory Therapy; provide instruction through clinical and didactic education; and maintain clinical evaluation for effectiveness of the program.

Provide direct and indirect supervision of students while at clinical sites.

Develop clinical schedules, syllabi and orientation information.

Evaluate and provide guidance to clinical instructors/preceptors to ensure consistency and quality of student clinical experiences.

Oversee the collection, record maintenance, and reporting of all documentation required by clinical sites, including but not limited to immunization records, criminal background screenings, drug screenings, federal exclusion lists, BLS certification, HIPAA training and compliance, and Standard Precaution training and compliance.

Ensure all clinical education components comply with standards for accreditation with Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).

Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical expertise and educational competencies.

Secure and maintain clinical site agreements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Minimum of four (4) years of work experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist including at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for student in such programs.

Must hold a valid Registered Therapy (RRT) credential and current unencumbered state license.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters or Doctorate in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
