EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time, 10 months
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Seton Hill University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Art Education, beginning in August 2026. Responsibilities include teaching art education methods courses, supervision of student teaching, and engagement with art educators in the region, as well as a working knowledge of Pennsylvania requirements for certification. A robust studio practice is preferred. This position works with both the Art Faculty and the Education faculty to ensure accreditation of the degree. Additional teaching responsibilities will be determined by the area of expertise in studio, gallery/museum education, and/or art history. Fulfills role and duties of Practicum/Student Teaching Coordinator. Assists with marketing, recruitment, and enrollment of students. This is a tenure track position.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Teaches 12 instructional units per semester; 6-7 courses annually including three Art Education courses
- One course release provided for Student teaching and oversight in Spring semester
- Oversees Practicum and Student teaching placement
- Administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and
course rubrics - Assists in development and review of art education curriculum in accordance with learning objectives and certification outcomes as necessitated by the Art Program and the state of Pennsylvania.
- Assists in preparation for all materials needed for professional and/or program review
- Participates in cross-disciplinary and curriculum discussions related to undergraduate level study
- Participates in recruitment and interviews
- Demonstrates commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence
- Participates in Art department meetings, meetings of the School of Visual and Performing Arts, and faculty governance
- Serves on university committees
- Assists with student capstone requirements for graduation
- Doctorate by time of appointment in Art Education and art education certification.
- A commitment to teaching art within the context of a liberal arts education.
- Candidates with prior teaching experience at the university level.
- Candidates with experience in teaching art in K-12 schools.
- Candidates who hold an MFA in a studio field or a BFA in a studio field with an ongoing studio practice.
